In a fixture that is always one where we need to move the ball quickly to avoid the opponents plan of a physical battle, we started quickly down the slope with Thomas setting up Callum in the 4th Minute. Play became a bit fractured with us having a few attempts from outside the box, 20th minute saw Thomas bundle the ball in with the back of his head.

Another fractured spell as Dara sought to battle back, with 2 or 3 players looking rusty due to the holidays lay off Joao came on & added much needed bite & Ramzi started to follow suit we managed to set up Thomas for his 2nd of the game, with Sahil & Joseph on we were on top & Joseph scored a good drilled shot into the far corner from right side of the box.

Sahil unfortunately also had a different impact going for a high ball slightly catching their defender as he came in to head the ball, to Sahil’s credit he showed concern to the well being of the defender who jumped up & startied shoving & to Sahil’s credit he raised his hands & did not retaliate. Just before half time Sahil hit a strong free kick from 28yds that cannoned to safety off of their post`

2nd half my words of wisdom to not get sucked into a battle & to pass & move quickly from a deeper position we hoofed it long as Dara came out to do their best & within 5mins pulled one back after a defensive error. Next 10mins saw more of the same they got a 2nd when a frozen Callum in goal let a low shot from right of the box slipped under him at the near post. With a couple of subs & moving Joel into the middle (although he was a great outlet on the right wing that they found hard to deal with) to get back control to the midfield & instructions of positioning & determination to win the ball & pass early.  We fashioned a few chances & situations but were unable to make the most of. Apart from some good defensive blocks we manage to stem the oppo’s threat & control the game more & should have scored a 5th after the best passing move of the game, seeing Sahil screw his shot just wide. Overall job done, although must learn that game is never won in the 1st half, we have just about hit the ground running, hopefully build on it v Broomwood at home next week
