Match Summary  (by Michelle Mills)

So – it was another match against Lambeth Tigers. Anita gave the boys an excellent team talk at the start of the match and encouraged an already slightly despondent team to dig in and focus on doing their best and work together as a team. Alvaro put himself forward for Captain and gathered the boys to discuss their game plan.  We were 8, they were 14….it was always going to be a tough ask. We finally kicked off with Lambeth Tigers sportingly donating a player to us to bring us to 9. The pressure was on almost instantly and despite the boys pressing we soon found ourselves a few goals down. The first glimmer of a goal came with Ugo coming close and then Jahvan lobbed the Tigers keeper and found the back of the net – much to everyone’s joy!!

Xavier took a robust tackle on the wing which finished his ankle off and he had to come off and the Colts down to 8. We finished the first half circa 5:1. Darren encouraged the Colts to come back out fighting and they did. Some excellent spells of determined play ensued, the Colts without exception worked hard to press and hunt the ball down.  Great footwork from Jahvan followed by an excellent cross set Josiah up for a stunning header and a second goal for the Colts.  The power of the Tigers was overwhelming, several goals followed and the game finished 10:2.

Hats off to the Colts they deserved more for the effort they all put in.

We are in need of a BIG win next week. Thankfully there are no more Tigers for a while….Let’s turn this season around people.
