Football Management Update

Clapham Rangers is delighted to announce that Louis Madden has been appointed the club’s new Head Coach. Louis is taking on the role following a successful interim period after Wallace Hermit stepped back from the role in September 2020.

The club would like to thank Wallace for his tremendous contribution in recent years. His work to transform the hugely popular Saturday morning Development Centre and the introduction of the Girl’s Academy have helped the club grow to provide more opportunities for young people in south London to enjoy the benefits of playing football. Wallace was also responsible for bringing on board and mentoring new coaching staff over the past two seasons. That work was incredibly important to maintain the ability to continue to run twenty competitive teams despite the disruption from COVID.

In the role of Head Coach, Louis will be responsible for setting in place the clubs football philosophy, recruiting and managing the coaches, as well as leading on all football operations, such as new season trials. Louis works very closely with Cole Salewicz who runs the administration side of the club, liaising with the London County Saturday Youth League, organising all fixtures, match venues and training locations. Cole has been in this position since 2019 and has worked brilliantly to ensure the club has a strong ongoing programme of fixtures. He has been successful in securing a wider range of playing facilities, including additional astroturf locations to improve training and reduce match postponement due to poor weather. Louis and Cole are also dedicated team coaches for CRFC and combine their club roles with external coaching services to the wider community. In his coaching role Cole also works as a coach with Crystal Palace FC and he has successfully recommended four players to train with and then sign for their academy. Clapham Rangers is delighted to have such highly proficient and dedicated young people from the local area leading the club forward.

Club Chairman, Simon Millson said “On behalf of the Board I want to congratulate Louis on his new role and thank Wallace for his contribution. Louis and Cole have been working together since the start of this season and, with encouraging support from the Board, have successfully navigated the Club through this crisis. We are now well placed to start the new season in September in a strong position to deliver a more enjoyable and improved football experience for the boys and girls who play and train at Clapham Rangers.

LouisI am delighted to take on the Head Coach role from Wallace. As a coach myself I fully understand the need to have a strong football philosophy alongside efficient organisation and having held the role on an interim basis I have a great feel for what is needed with my first goal to put in place an updated approach to player and coach recruitment for season 2021/22”

Coleworking with Louis I’m excited to continue working improve the running of Clapham Rangers to offer even higher quality levels of matches, training and development to our community
