Match Report:

Going into this game confidence was running high off the back of last weekโ€™s win but this was short-lived as St Mathews took control from the kick off taking an early well deserved lead after only 4 mins capitalising on Claphamโ€™s nervy start, this being the case last week too, we have something to work on here. The first half continued with St Mathews pretty much controlling the game, but for some great defending and superb keeping by Luke, St Mathews could have capitalised. 10 mins before half time they did, breaking from the halfway line with what looked like a dubious offside not being called by the dodgy linesmanโ€ฆ. Me! , they raced up field to score their second. (For clarity their player who scored was not in an offside position, the other one was but well away from the play) anyway enough about this first half, time for some inspiration from the maestro Wes!

What a pep talk, I think they got the hair dryer as Clapham came out of the blocks for what was almost a one way second half. Clapham pressure finally paid off as Stan fired into the net from close range with 17 mins left to play following an assist by Marcus. I said almost a one way second half with the exception of Jasper clearing 3 shots off the line and Luke soaring higher than I thought he could jump to punch away a tasty long-range effort over the bar. With 15 minutes to go Ham broke free down the right to lay off a pass to Marcus who calmly placed the ball into the corner of the net, game on! Clapham continued to press, it felt like a game we could win and so it proved with Bentley scoring the winner assisted by Stan, what a comeback with the boys showing true grit and determination, lots of good passing playing for each other. Well done boys you are now joint top of the table, lets go again on Saturday to go clear top.
