Match Summary:

A cold, wet Brockwell Park saw the Colts dominate the home side with a great team performance full of ambition and a ruthlessness in front of goal.

First half:

Despite Clapham pinning their opponents into their own half from the off, it was Gabriel who shone first with a smart stop on the edge of his box with the St Matthew’s striker clean through. He followed up soon after with a huge clearance that Dakara chased through to open the scoring for Clapham with a confident finish. Jahvarn followed up soon after with a strong run from the halfway line to make it 2-0. Clapham’s third came from some good close passing on the left by Ruban, Tom and James who combined to release Godwin to deliver an excellent cross that the keeper palmed into the onrushing Dakara, who claimed his second. Minutes later, Dakara’s hat-trick was sealed when a hard, low cross from James was deflected out and our centre forward made no mistake from six yards. Another strong run by Jahvarn from the right fed Godwin who took a touch and flicked past the keeper and, after Sidney thumped a header against the post from a corner, the Colts got to half-time 5-0 ahead.

Second half:

The second half was no less one-sided but with fewer clear-cut chances. Joel headed home from a corner but it was disallowed for the ball going out of play. The sixth came from good work from Dakara, who released Jahvarn to drive into the box and force a good save from a powerful shot but Talib was on hand to convert the rebound. A late penalty for St Matthew’s completed the scoring with the whole team deservedly named men of the match with good performances all over the field.
