Off the back of a loss last week, being short of a full team, Rangers were looking for a moral boosting win. We played on a big pitch with nicely conditioned turf and wide goals, which we hoped would really suit a team that could play proper football and a keeper with reach. The home team appeared to be a French national team having got lost on their way home from their villas in the Dourdogne, turned ‘a gauche’ instead of ‘a droite’ at the peripherique and ended up in the tunnel to London. This was going to be an International match and perhaps revenge for all those years of hurt.
