Match Summary:
The game began so promisingly with Rangers dominant throughout the first half. Oscar scored 20 minutes in with a superb straight-on strike to take Rangers 1-0 up.
There were a few chances, a couple of near misses from Jahvan… it was surely just a matter of time before Rangers strengthened their lead. It seemed the moment had come when a nifty sequence down the left wing culminated in Kamran skilfully slotting the ball into the back of the net. To the consternation of both players and spectators though the goal was disallowed, allegedly offside. Also noteworthy was a heroic save from Zak which fended off the free-kick equaliser.
Still 1- 0 up at half time, the players were not disheartened.
A few minutes into the second half however Greenhouse found some form and equalised. Rangers lost focus for a while and were severely punished for it: suddenly they found themselves 1-3 down, dazed and confused.
A second goal from Kamran minutes before the end – a deft header into the left side of the goal – reignited hope and some fighting spirit. The boys fought valiantly and with a bit more time who knows what come-back might have been staged? Unfortunately time was not on Rangers’ side and they were still trailing at the final whistle.
A disappointing scoreline which didn’t perhaps reflect the reality of the game.
