A tight game on a difficult, bobbly pitch which produced few chances. Rangers started slowly again but soaked up Broomwood’s early pressure as the game settled into a scrappy midfield stalemate. Our best opportunity came after 20 minutes when Xavier rattled a free kick off the bar. Zak made a couple of good saves, while Broomwood’s striker blazed over in a one-on-one just before half time.

Broomwood’s breakthrough came 2 minutes into the second half via a cross from the right wing and a strong header.  Rangers gradually applied more pressure with Jahvan unsettling the Broomwood defence. The equaliser came from a speculative shot from the edge of the box by Joshua, which squirmed under the goalkeeper. Rangers then enjoyed their best period of the game with several opportunities to apply the killer touch. Jahvan and Nico both went close. But against the run of play, and with only two minutes to go, the ball broke for Broomwood in our penalty area and their striker prodded the ball home.    

A draw probably would have been a fair result, but it was a below par performance from Rangers.
